Profile Overview

He is an accomplished professional with over 39 years of comprehensive experience in the power sector, spanning across various domains including general management, finance, regulatory affairs, commercial operations, power market & procurement, IT enablement, and engineering. He demonstrated expertise in strategic leadership, corporate governance, policy formulation, policy advocacy, regulatory compliance, and project implementation coupled with a strong track record of driving organizational transformation and delivering sustainable business growth. He have the unique field experience of working in all the three verticals of power sector, i. e., generation, transmission and distribution in India as both finance and engineering professional, and the Electricity Regulatory Commission in India at both State and Central level.

As Member (Technical), Assam Electricity Regulatory Commission for the period of December 2019 to December 2024, he was instrumental in bringing in a wide range of innovativeness into the regulations and implementation of the same. As Managing Director, Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited (AEGCL) from July 2017 to December 2019, he turned around the utility and successfully commissioned a number of long pending projects. He was also instrumental in preparing the Network Expansion Plan of AEGCL till FY 2030 to be implemented in two phases.

Some of his important achievements include conceptualisation and implementation of ERP (SAP ECC 6.0) in a State Distribution company, installaion of electro-mechanical equipments of a hydo-electric power station, completion of the construction of a long pending 220KV 164 km long transmission line, operation and maintenance of coal and oil fired thermal power station. He was also a member of the Reform & Restructuring Cell of State Electricity Board of Assam into different verticals and companies during 2002-2004.

He obtained his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1985 from Jorhat Engineerin College, Assam, Diploma in Business Finance in 1996 from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India, Hyderabad. He also did Middle Management Programme of the 3-Tier Programme in 2010 from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. Since 2013, he is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Kolkata.
